Missed Jeanne Mackey's debut performance of
Drop the Knife, A-Memoir-in-Song on Sunday, November 21 in Ann Arbor. Ms. Mackey celebrated her 60th birthday by composing a musical reflection on turning 60. It was a promise she'd made to herself and I'm glad she kept. Jeanne has several videos of the evening on
youtube which is linked here. Don't miss
Different by Now, and
No Time to Hesitate - but I like
Doomed and
Land of the Sidhe, too. Musical meditation is good for this holiday week, and reflecting on a life well-lived in music is restorative. Thanks to Ms. Mackey for sharing the musical journey!
Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. Funny, now that I've sung about making peace with my life and declaring that it's "enough," people who saw the show expect me to live accordingly--and remind me when I backslide! Ah, the power of art to help us integrate life lessons!
We recorded a selection of these songs at Eric Fithian's Electric Farm Studio in Dexter. The CD, Drop the Knife: A Memoir-in-Song, is available at Crazy Wisdom Bookstore and online at CD Baby.
